Book Club Discussion Questions
Just Unfinished was written to help women feel less alone in the complicated, beautiful, and sometimes painful parts of becoming who they are. These questions are an invitation to talk about what stayed with you, what challenged you, and what parts of your own life you recognized within these pages.
Choose the questions that feel right for your group. There are no perfect answers, and no one should feel pressured to share more than they are comfortable sharing.
Are you reading Just Unfinished with your book club, women’s group, or community? I would love to hear from you. When my schedule allows, I am happy to join book club conversations virtually for a Q&A about the book, the stories behind it, and what it means to live an unfinished life.

Questions for Your Conversation
What part of the book stayed with you most after you finished reading? What do you think made that particular story or idea resonate with you?
Did you recognize any part of yourself in Michelle’s story, even if the details of your lives are very different?
Many of us carry beliefs about ourselves that began long before we understood where they came from. Did the book make you think about any messages you learned early in life about who you were supposed to be?
Michelle writes about spending years feeling as though she was not enough. Where does “not enough” tend to show up in women’s lives, and what keeps that belief alive?
Have you ever become so identified with one of your roles that you lost sight of who you were outside of it? What helped you begin finding yourself again?
The book explores the tension between deeply loving the people in our lives and still wanting something that belongs only to us. Why can it be difficult to admit that we want more?
Which example of “two things can be true” resonated most with you? What are two seemingly conflicting truths you have had to learn to hold at the same time?
Did the book change the way you think about grief? Are there losses that people experience but do not always recognize or allow themselves to grieve?
Who has shown up for you during an important season of your life? What did their presence give you that you could not have provided for yourself?
Michelle writes about love as something built through ordinary choices, difficult seasons, and the decision to keep returning to one another. Did anything in her relationship with Sean affect the way you think about long-term love?
What did the book make you consider about the difference between caring for the people you love and losing yourself while caring for them?
Have you ever had to accept that someone you love experienced a shared moment or relationship differently than you did? What makes it difficult to hear another person’s version without defending your own?
Was there a moment when Michelle said something you have felt but had never put into words yourself?
Is there a dream, interest, or part of yourself that you have been saving for “someday”? What has made you wait?
What would it look like to take up a little more space in your own life right now?
Did this book change the way you define success, healing, or progress? If so, how?
What is one thing you want to carry with you from Just Unfinished?
One Last Question
If your life is not behind, broken, or already decided, but simply unfinished, what might still be possible?
